better thing to do is get an ESP/Ibanez and buy some EMG's

preferably an EMG 81+EMG 85 and if you have a half size pick up slot, throw a sustaniac in it

I say 850 is not that bad of a price. I personally have always like the dinky guitars from Jackson. As for the building up the Ibanez, I would say isn't really a more inexpensive solution because EMG pick-ups are fairly expensive themselves, and I dont like sustainers. If you want more sustain the best solution is to buy a neck-through guitar, or something of the like. My Gibson LP Black Beauty will sustain a note as long as I could want it to. So.......I say buy the Jackson, and be happy with your purchase.

I tried a '57 Black Beauty too freaking heavy although they do sound sweet.

I have my 1996 Ibanez Limited Edition RG270 with the wyld set of EMG's (85+81) and Ernie Ball 11's

if you want a sweet guitar, i just bought an ltd ec-1000 with the vintage black satin finish (the one below), picked it up for 899 with a hard shell...plays amazingly and sounds great (like a les paul with out the weight) and then my friend has the ec-500 which he picked up for like 600 with case which is still a killer guitar...or you could drop like $3k on a custom
