well you have to understand...they aren't designed for free air. if you want them to sound good, you need an enclosure. also, didn't you pay $33 for them? dont expect the quality of a $200 woofer. when people are saying how good these things are, they arent comparing them to high quality 12" subs. they are comparing to other 8". if you want really really hard pounding bass, then you bought the wrong speaker.

no i really dont want hard pounding bass, i guess i just expected a little more but then again ive never really heard an eight before. i bought them for midbass, maybe with components or rear fill. now i dont know what im going to do with them. any suggestions would be great. ive got a 99concorde with 6.5 in the front doors and 6x9 in the rear deck. im running a deh6500 head unit, and two twelve inch alpine type s , with about 300 watts going to each. i plan on upgrading the subs and amp but i wanted to do my mids and highs first. what would u do with the eights. i will build whatever i would like really nice midbass but if i were to put them in the rear deck how would i build an enclosere for them.

How can you say you were impressed??? I have peoples jaw drop when they hear what a 8" can produce free air. I was amazed to see what that single 8 could do.

I am going to be fiberglassing them into my doors. I have 2 Focal component sets for the highs, and I will run the 8's off of a 400.2 each. :thumbs_up

well Im very impressed with what these little 8s can do ported, so I guess I will stick with that, I was just wondering if they could be used free air with any decent results

i would PM david (teampsi) or just call RE. I havent heard of anyone doing this but i wouldnt recommend doing this only because ive never heard of it being ok to be used like this. Im pretty sure u only want to use subs free air if they are designed for free air.

i guess i didnt know what to expect. they just didnt hit. they were free airing in my trunk. when i closed the lid i really couldnt tell there were subs in the trunk. where do you have the focals.
