Quick question!

Ok, I got a 15" alpine type R sub, and am trying to hook it to Mtx thunder 1501d (mono) amp. What would be the best way to hook it up??

sub is dual 2 ohms

amp is 2/4 ohm stable

I was thinking could I connect two separate terminals from the amp to each vc, would this work?

You'd pretty much have to wire in series for 4 ohm.

Either that or run 1 coil, but that cuts power handling by half, doubles Qes, increases Qts, cuts motor strength in half, etc. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
and is just plain stupid //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Each vc is 2 ohm?

If so, feeding a channel to each vc will work fine.

I have a MTX Thunder amp too and it's stable at 2 or 4 ohms in 2 channel, but is only stable at 4 ohms when bridged.

Opps...didn't notice that!

Thought he had a 2 channel amp b/c he was talking about hooking each vc up to a seperate channel.

Oh well, he will have to go with series and have a 4 ohm load (like the diagram above).

thats measured at 14.4 volts

THUNDER1501D

• RMS Power measured at 12.5 Volts DC:

500 Watts x 1 into a 4 Ohm load with less than 2% Thd+N

1000 Watts x 1 into a 2 Ohm load with less than 2% Thd+N

• Dynamic Power measured at 14.4 Volts DC:

750 Watts x 1 into a 4 Ohm load

1500 Watts x 1 into a 2 Ohm load

• Signal to Noise Ratio: ≥100dB A-Weighted

• Damping Factor: >100

• Frequency Response: 20Hz-200Hz ± 3dB

• Maximum Input: 8Vrms

• Thunder EQ: Variable Bass Boost (0-18dB) centered at 40Hz

• Crossover: Variable 40Hz to 200Hz, 24dB/Octave Low Pass

• Dimensions: 17.8" x 9.75" x 2.1" (45.3cm x 24.8cm x 5.3cm)

Ah...750 Dynamic...I only pay attention to RMS. But 500w is still plenty. With the sub and amp you have, you have to wire it in series at 4 ohms. I know its tempting to wire it in parallel for a 2 ohm load and double the power, but you risk damaging your amp.
