when you buy the plans\pieces, they give you acess to their help forum, and tons of customer service. i just havnt gotten myself around to building one yet. the only part you need to get yourself is the LCD monitor (and a small one can be had quite cheap now'adays)

i dont know if you wanna sticky this- but it might bring a whole new thing to some of your garage and spare MDF. i wanna start building one after i get my car done.

You wouldn't say that if you used a projector to any great extent. I'll never own a standard TV ever again, atleast not for my main tv.

And about you eye's getting messed up from watching it big, I don't know WTF you guys are talking about. We have one of mine set up at 126" and it doesn't bother any of us at all.

Caraudio.com - Where the average member couldn't wire a SPST toggle if they had to.

More proof.

I need a program or something that will help me find mounting depth without having to build box and such...

No, Andy, I'm sure the context is fine.

If you stand up and block my view, you will be in pain via rott iron chair beemed across the room @ your head. If I miss, I have 4 more tries;) If I miss those consider yourself lucky until you return!:D Seriosly, don't block my view. Ask anyone in my family and friends - they know;)

Can you build a HD one for that cheap? Or does it just depend on how cheap of a monitor you can find...

What do I get for $19.99?

You get the Lumenlab DIY 15" Projector Guide as a downloadable PDF document (guide revisions are free). You can upgrade to Version 2 (when released) for free. V.2 will contain the DIY 15" Projector Guide and instructions for building a much smaller, cutting-edge projector based on a 7" LCD panel. We will also give you access to the customer exclusive section of the Lumenlab forums where you can ask for help or advice and stay in touch with the latest Lumenlab design innovations.

I've had my eye on this project for awhile, but I dont have room for a huge vintage looking wooden crate in my place next year so I think I'll wait for the v2 plans described above and see if it becomes practical.

my parts alone right now are around $500. I haven't stripped my moniter down yet and if I mess that up there will go another $200. The lamp and ballast cost around $100 and the lenses were around $50. My lcd was right at $200 but I found one with a tv tuner in it.

bah, screw TV tuner. use a lappy ;)

but if you can get your hands on a good 7" LCD you can still do quite a large monitor.
