it is a 6.5" co-axial speaker, so the diameter would be 6.5"

 

Not always. Some are oversized. For example, my buddies DEI Viper comp set lists the mids at 6.5", but they are really 7" (oustide diameter) or a little bigger.

Ok. I need the mounting diameter. Not the outside diameter or the depth. I need to know how big to make the whole for the speakers to fit into in the brackets I'm making.

that, my friend is called "cutout diameter"

 

knowing the terminology makes getting answers incredibly easy...

Based on that lovely logic, Adire has been lying to you, your 15 inch sub is actually 15.5 inches in diameter. It's mind boggling isn't it.

I'm not sure what rock you live under, but I've seen it referred to as mounting hole, mounting diameter, and cutout diameter. Get out, and live a little buddy.

CL-6x's:

Frame Diameter O.D 6 1/2"

Mouinting depth 2 1/4"

Mounting Hole 5 11/16"

 

 

As per the spec sheet they sent me!
