My son has a 2005 Honda Civic EX coupe.  We've bought him the JVC x360bts head unit and his car came with an older crossfire bmf 400.4.  I think it's 50watts x 4.  I've read that the silverflute and tymphany xt25sc90 work well together.  Should I order the 4 ohm version of these for best results?  Thanks.

Yes

a resistor at around 6k should do it. Where are you setting your x-over points?
I think I understand what you're going for but you must have meant something different? A single resistor isn't a crossover.

Besides that, if you meant a capacitor for protection purposes only, you would want a very large microfadarad value that would not impact any of the possible crossover points inside of the usable bandwidth. You're basically looking for something that will block low frequency content below 200-400Hz but without influencing stopband so that phase tracking is still good once the active points and slopes are applied. A cap offering "protection" at a frequency of 6kHz would destroy all of that and simply limit him to a 6dB slope at 6kHz.

In reality the protection capacitor just isn't necessary unless he's using a ribbon tweeter. Better off saving his money and avoiding the trouble of bad sound.

very glad you chimed in actually. i was thinking of the in line frequency blocking devices that come with add on tweeters, but wasnt sure exactly where to go with that since these tweeters didnt come with one. i will defer to you on this man

No worries, your head was in the right place. I just didn't want the fella putting a 6K 10w resistor inline with his tweeter and watching it melt down. 😁

i know that Dayton sells basic crossovers for about $6, just wasnt sure what freq the slope should start at. 4k or 6k or something around there sounded like w a reasonable place to start. i cant wait for it to warm up so i can dig back into my electrical. I have the 0 gauge and all the other fun stuff that i need to put in so i can get that Elite.4 and SQ2200.1 back in the trunk. I got a S1-1250 for xmas for the kiddos car and im waiting for Denim to get the dual 2 ohm coil american bass xd 12 back in stock so my brother and i can build a box for the trunk of an 03 civic. Im going to put my old 4 gauge in there to power the 1250 and im thinking ti should rock pretty hard. Im confident on the building of the box, but the carpeting feels like a challenge.

sorry for the thread jacking
