I have done a lot of reading and can’t seem to find my answer on the inter webs.
I am putting together a backyard system using a car stereo with a 120v to 12v power supply (picture attached). No battery. It all has to fit in a TV wall mount cabinet.
My question is about the memory. I know that I must put the red and yellow wire together from the stereo and put it in the +12v and the black to the -12v. Would it be possible to put the red wire to 1 of the +12v slots with a on/off toggle, (to simulate ignition) and the yellow wire to another +12v slot? I know the power supply will always be plugged in, but my thought is that the current draw from the yellow wire will be so low, the fan should not run that often.
Or maybe a separate laptop power supply just for the yellow wire and tap into the ground wire from the stereo?
thanks in advance
Kevin
