I need a cheap decent amp

Recommended Posts

I’m looking for a amp for my kicker L7 solobaric 15” sub.  It’s just the one.  I was told to look for a mono block amp around 1200-1500 watts at 2ohms.  I’m on a budget and am looking for a cheap amp that will do the job.  I’m new to the speaker business and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks

avoid those at all costs. we all know who those brands are and trust me when i say to avoid them unless you want to replace them and waste your money

What about Rockville?  I’m seeing it for about 120 on Amazon.  Says it will throw 1500 at 2ohm.

If you have to stay in under $150.

Audiopipe Apmi 1500

I really think you should get the soundqubed 1200 homie recommended because it's a more reliable brand and it has a clipping indicator which alone can save you $100+

Is Rockville that bad because the cheap amp you suggested says it overheats in about 30 mins

Rockville's a decent budget option.

On such a small budget there's no need for 1500, or even 1200w -- it's a 1000w sub.  More power's just SQ insurance that you don't need.

The DB14 will give you ~1000 @ 2 for <$120.

If you want more power anyway, the DB15 will do ~1400 for <$150.

Higher power also means more stress on the electrical system.  Alt and battery upgrades aren't cheap either.

I would get an Audiopipe amp before anything Rockville.

APMI2k can be had for around $150 with a coupon code if you're smart about it.

I'm guessing you read that on an Amazon review or something. Those people are retarded. I mean the most selling amps on Amazon are usually Boss or Ignite with reviews like "this shit slams so hard it broke my windshield best 5000w amp for $80"

Rockville, Boss, Planet Audio = GARBAGE

Don't waste your money on these.  I wouldn't install any of them....even if someone paid me to.

Lumping them into the same group is garbage.

Have you TRIED a Rockville?  Looked at a dyno?  Done ANYTHING of value to form that opinion?

What makes you think Rockville is even worth mentioning...because you sell them?  GTFO.  Even crappy amps like CABs push out big numbers on the dyno but sound weak as hell when actually wired up to subs.  Tell me something I don't know.

Garbage products is garbage products.  No need to glorify junk.  I've been around car audio long enough to know what's decent and what is simply overhyped trash.
