Hello, I am new to this forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif anyway I’m new to the whole audio systems and stuff but I’ve been doing a lot of homework over it and I still have a question. So I know you can take a computer power supply rated at 12 volts and let’s say 66 amps for 800 watts. Now I already have a 1200 watt peak power amp. I know it will be under powering this amp a lot but that’s okay because the subs are rated at 250 rms 800 peak. But let’s say I get a power supply that is 12 volts 200 amps. That’s 2400 watts of power into a 1200 watt amp. Is that okay to do? Because the way I see it is the amplifier will not pull over 1200 watts of energy or else it would hurt itself and it is smarter than that. Reason for asking is I have a 12 volt 200 amp supply from a huge server computer. And I know car batteries and alternators put out around that. So basically 12 volts 200 amps input into 1200 watt amp will not hurt the amp because it can’t draw more than 1200 watts correct? Thanks guys! Can’t wait to get my first system going //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif (also not going into a car using for PC)
