I'm in the process of designing a 1/4 wave tline for my 12" RF Power HX2. I've got the design pretty much completed only it's turned to 32hz. The fs of the sub is 26 hz.

Are there any negative points in tuning a tline higher than the fs? I probably could make the box wider to achieve 26hz but I don't really want to right now.It took me for ever to get it where it's at.

There is a reason it's "tuned" to Fs. So it needs to be designed around that.

You can stuff the line or taper it to elongate the effective line length though.

It's better to lose line area than length. You will lose a little output, but you will regain bandwidth.

Alright, thanks. That's exactly what I needed to hear.

I'm going to re-do it all. I'll go from 3/4" mdf to 1/2" baltic birch. Instead of using one of my hx2s I'll use my mach 5 spl 15. The spl 15 has an fs of 40hz so it'll be easier for me to fit.

Thanks again.

SQ is subjective. If you're looking for the flattest possible response curve, usually sealed will give you that in a car. Porting is more...
