Sleeper of an amp. Ugly as can be, but built well and makes the power. Runs all day at 1ohm.

I feel strangely drawn to this LOL. Would love to show off a nice sounding sub setup and then pop the trunk and see the looks on peoples faces when they see a sony back there. Cosmetics aside this is actually a very nice amp.

I had fun doing the same thing, it really plays on people's brand prejudice and forces them to rethink things a little bit.

I think that's only because of how young a lot of people who are into sounds systems are, they don't know about the previous quality of a lot of products such as Sony Mobile ES, MB Quart, etc. I can't say a whole lot myself either seeing as how I'm not exactly old born in 93.

I've been pulling this routine on kids since '95, but you're right. There's a whole generation out there that has no reference for what it was like in the hay days of well built gear. Some will never even hear truly good sound. Sad, really.
 
i had an octagonal sony explod that had 120a of fuses and was loud as hell. im tempted on this one
Oh yeah, the black one. That thing does like 900 @ 2ohm and 1400 @ 1ohm? I was looking for that when I bought this one, lol.

I would try a pair of Bass Blockers on the rear speakers. I always place them on Coax. speakers generally, Should help quite a bit I like PAC ones...

Are your tweeters amplified or powered by the radio or maybe factory amp? I'd check your wiring for sure, make sure 12v power and ground are...
