2 15"s-4ft3 ???

Recommended Posts

i was wondering on your guys opion on this ... like the title says is 2 15" custom made subs too small for 4 ' cubed? the box is built already and desinged for 1 15" tuned to 34hz. but i was thing i might be able to retro fit it for 2 15". by cutting anouther subwoofernext to the other and possibly take out the port wall and seal up the box. or leave the port wall so it would be 2 15" in 4ft3 which sounds unrealistic to me but im not a expert. so bottom line is ... leave the box for 1 15" alone and buy/build a box for 2 15"? or 2 15s with ported or 2 15s sealed ....just wondering your opions thanks

Leave the box alone. Run one 15 in it, or get a new box for the two. What subs?

Sealed 4 cubes could work but depends on what subs. I would build a new box though period or justkeep 1

I know a sub you can put 2 sealed in 3 cubes for 15s and give them 2000rms

Don't mix them. 2 different motors equals 2 different subs. No go have 2 do one.

Bad sound quality. Destructive interference.

I'd also be interested in knowing which subs you are referring to.

I'm surprised that you have the ability to build custom subs, yet you are asking these questions. Is 4 cubes net, or gross? If gross, it is barely even big enough for 1 15. Mixing subs is not a good idea.

PWE 352 MB Quart 15" 1600W 2 Ohm DVC Subwoofer Speaker Made by Rockford Fosgate 780687314231 | eBay

1.5 cube sealed made in the usa by fosgate :) old stock clearance.

They model up pretty bad in small sealed on winISD ... all the Fosgate's around that time like bigger boxes and these are made by Fosgate so... That's why shyed away from getting a pair to run sealed

Winisd is not the end all be all and I think soundeasy is a much better version. Plus winisd only tries to find the f3 flat response at .707. The problem with winisd is that it fails to take in account we are in a car and there are many issues like transfer function that have to be taken in effect. That's why many company go with a smaller response of .8 to 1 in there sealed enclosures because in a car the sub tends to then get to low of an extension and sound bloated. Also sealed enclosures size changes are notas detrimental. The f3 raises with with small box and so it gains effeciency with upper notes and power gain. But generally compliment the cabin gain of a car in a sealed box. But winisd beta cannot compute that.

The mb q 352 will work wonders in that 1.5 sealed, i have one on my home theatre in that sealed box. Had it in the car, impressive, would have had two in the car if they would have fit. If you want two 15's and are limited on space, you will not regret these in that 3 cuft sealed.

Hmm.

I know my cars cabin gain, have it wrote down some where. Lol. Maybe I will go with a pair of the quarts. I can get about 4.2 cuft in my trunk...
