I didnt read that link but ive used wide weatherstripping in the past on the back of panels. also spray foam has been used with good results in some locals vehicles. Also see your in the NC area. By chance gonna go to the NCSC car meets meet this sunday in York, SC?

Mineral wool is another nice dammned good insulation fire proof. Prob same as the Rock wool mentioned. that stuff will last forever

Yep. That's exactly what I did.
I tried it with my 1/4" flush trim bit, but it didn't leave enough space for the mesh to press the way I wanted...
