Guess it's time to start making a mess.



The foundation of the box. It will be replacing what the factory considers rear seats. Had to build it to fit down into the area that once held the seat bottoms.



This will give you an idea of what I'm talking about for the bottom of the box

sub pods are mocked up and speaker in place for a quick test fit. Lot's of test fitting during this build. That's a JL Audio WS6 10" sub



Now that I know the magnet will clear the inside of the box, time to start setting up for fiberglass.



Watching fiberglass dry is so much fun.



Really, it's a blast or maybe it was just the fumes.

Trying to figure the layout for the amps.



Oh look, the subs still fit...guess I did something right.

So after getting to this point of the build (I'd say 80%) finished, we uncovered a major design flaw. The Porsche doesn't come with a tilt wheel and because of the deep bolstered seats, it's difficult to get in and out without being able to slide the seat all the way back. Unfortunately, this required a complete redesign of the box (minus the base). What you don’t see in the pictures is that it also required all the trim pieces to be redesigned as well. These are the pieces that cover the box and help maintain the interior lines of the vehicle. This included cutting out new panels and retracing the contours of the interior.

With that being said, I personally like the new design as it fits the style of the car better, doesn’t sit as high and has a more natural flow with the inside of the car

I’m not going to bore everyone with pictures of all the bondo and sanding. Matter of fact it was so boring that I didn’t take very many. But **** it took a long time to get everything smooth. It was a must so that we could reproduce that “just dipped in a can of paint” look. The pictures don’t even do these justice. I’ve actually had people ask me if they were still wet when they saw them.



Thats not a scratch on the front, just the way the light reflected I guess.





You can see the panels in place with this picture. The lower part will be wraped in carpet while the top part will be coverd in suede.

That's pretty much it for now. I'll continue to update the thread as we progress. Still need to wire everything up, build the speak pods for the rear deck and redesign the door pods. Wasn't crazy with the first design after seeing how well the box came out.

Thank you, you might be surprised to find out this was my first true experience with fiberglass. I've dabbled with it in the past but nothing even remotely on this scale.

Best advise I can give you is read...read...read...and then read more. Read everything you can get your hands on regarding working with fiberglass.
