Custom box lettering...how?

Current Status: Win
Out of all of my years in building car stereo's, i've never cared to know how to make a box with a logo or lettering that sticks out a hair more than anything else. Something like this...

Do you just get like 1/4" mdf or plywood and stick it on there then wrap it? I'm wanting to make this next install a bit more...custom, and I thought this would be a nifty little thing to add //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

 
Wood, poster board, cutting mat, high density foam all kinds of stuff to use. Cut it to shape, glue it down, and work the covering material very well around it so the lettering or design stands out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
