THE WHOLE THING!!!
As some of you know, I recently received a 12" Fi Q compliments of nick and the guys over at Fi.

Well, today is the day that I finally got to unbox and test this little fugger out.

First some comparison shots versus the 12's I already have

DD 9512F, HD3 12", Q 12"

You can see my 9515F hanging out in the background. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Now by no means is this a high-power sub designed for SPL use, but I would be doing myself and others an injustice by not at least trying it out for SPL use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Anyways, here's the numbers I came up with.

Outlaw: 152.3 @ 41 hz

Headrest: 151.0 @ 41 hz

The Q ran out of steam mechanically before I could thermally hurt it, not really a surprise since this is an SQ oriented sub and I'm an SPL nut. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Overall, took the power pretty well and sounds pretty darn good to boot, even in my peaky SPL enclosure. WAY WAY less mechanical noise than the 9512, but obviously not as loud.

The DD in this box and the same power is only about 1 dB louder in both spots. Not surprising since it's designed to handle way more power, has 5 spiders, weighs 20 pounds more, and costs $150-200 more than a Q (for a used 9512). Also, I'm sure if I could throw more power at the Q it would gain in score. The HD3 is about .5-7 dB louder than the Q.

Both the DD and AQ get louder as more power is added though, which I couldn't do with the Q.

Overall, very very impressed with the little bugger. Makes me want to try out a BL or two. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Wow, pretty impressive numbers! How much power were you running (kicker 2500?) and what kind of enclosure?
Yeah, using the zx. Couldn't use the zx's full potential on the Q though.

Enclosure....Sorry but that's a secret //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I will say that it's about 2 cubes with a 6" aeroport.

so then I'm guessing my GF's 15" Q is doing around 153 legal....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Nice numbers and thanks for sharing. New SQL boner sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

For my clamp testing, I decided to use my pair of mb quart discus 2000's strapped at 1.4 ohms for the Q.

Results as follows:

AC volts: 118

AC amps: 30

Resulting power: 3540 watts

Score: 152.1, mainly due to lower voltage and a warm sub.

A literal asston of power for this sub.

WARNING: I do not recommend feeding more than what is recommended to this sub. I'm just crazy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Now at this power level, the DD has a hefty advantage over the Q, as it should. I'll try and compare them heads up at 1000 watts, 1500 watts, and 2000 watts to see what the scores are.
