I've seen a couple builds on the board done in 97+ wranglers. could i get away with just replacing the factory 4X6's with a better speaker to achieve a decent sound? I now have a pair of alpine coax 5 1/4's in the soundbar, but have to fade to the rear to keep the factory speakers from distorting. So sound is coming from the rear.

I have entertained building a custom box to hold a set of 5.25 components to fit in the top corners of the dash, "bottom of windshield, above the dash on both sides"

Is this overkill? will just replacing the 4x6's up front get me a decent front soundstage?

Riddle me this... if those are 80 watt rms speakers, how is the 200 watts that amp is pushing not destroying them?
