Panty Thief
howdy howdy.
well pretty soon i will be going on leave from work. well every time i take leave, i do a rebuild. it seems that my setups don't last much more than a year at a time. well i recently picked up a new, never been mounted, never seen power TC Sounds LMS 5400. i ended up selling both of my saz-1500d's and picked up 1 Saz-3000D. initially i was going to downgrade but well i can't stay away from the loud.
anyways
my plans!
running the 15" in a 3.5CUFT enclosure ported with two 4" aeroports tuned round 33hz. the sub will be forward firing into the cabin and being sealed from the trunk. i plan on running the aeroports thru the 6.5" rear speaker opening from the rear deck. i will glass/flush the flares into the rear dash panel then cover the entire panel in charcoal suede.
the speaker i plan on sealing that at the trunk opening with a fiber glassed beauty panel covering the entire opening and "flushing" itself behind all the trim/seats. behind that beauty panel i will use polyfill. i may create another panel behind the layer of poly fill to create a "seal" out of fiberglass but am contemplating it at the moment. we will se how it turns out as i start on some progress.
now for when you open the trunk, i plan on doing a somewhat floating amp with the 3000D and glassing a beauty panel from the rubber trunk seal opening to the top of the amp. the top of the amp will be exposed but everything else will remain hidden. beauty panel will also be covered in charcoal suede. on top of that a side beauty panel will be created for the trunk lid as well.
i still have a thin thing of clear plexi and i probably can integrate a lit up logo for the panel. i'd have to order some more led's and resistors which is no problem at all.
right now what came in recently was my 25ft of edead 80, i need to do a little deadening from the rear seat opening. i'm to cheap to buy some of the quality stuff, though i don't care really. i'm going to layer it anyways so w/e.
i got a 50 pack of Neodymium Disc Magnets which i will use to integrate into the back of the fiber glass panels so i can attach the panels to the car. i'm sure this will work just as fine as having to screw into the car which i would rather not do.
i got 30 yards of fiberglass 3/4oz
i got 4 yards @ 60"wide of charcoal suede
i got my two 4" aeroports from parts express
all i need now is a few items from home depot and wood.
still working on my enclosure calculations but i should start my box build this weekend. i will have MANY MANY MANY pics. i lurv teh pictars.
anyways. tonight i started out with stripping out the back seat and rear dash panels. i began by laying 1 layer of edead. i stopped after 1 unfinished layer cause i'm having back pains from work. i'll finish adding more and start multi layering, though i need to work on the back side of the brace.
anyways,
here's my starting pics.
rear of car stripped before cleaning
used a "new" thing of Simple green that comes in a blue bottle. says it's a stronger degreaser or something. worked pretty good in cleaning that ****. notice the colors of the rags.
and then after my first layer.
more progress pics tomorrow.
