Coil Pics Thread

Recommended Posts

Exactly as the title says, pics of subwoofer coils in here, dead or alive, doesn't matter.

First off, Cadence Ultradrive 12", 2" od coil, killed by a friend and then sold to me (I needed the box, and the sub was taking up space, so he threw it in with the box):

Second is my Powerbass Black PB-B125D, ran on a Kicker KX400.1 in 1.25 sealed for 3 years, then a friend borrowed the sub, amp, and box, and someone messed with the gain, bass boost, and LPF on the amp one day. Turned the gain all the way up, bass boost all the way up, LPF on 200hz, and Denny listens to his stereo at like 20 of 25 anyways. Took all of that to kill it, and it played for 30 minutes like that. Rated for 250/350 max :)

Third, and last, Elemental Designs EHQS/EQHS/Whatever the hell that model was, 12", single 2 ohm. Coil is still good, thermally was fine, but the tinsels snapped where they met the coil leads underneath the cone:

Add up what you got, and if it's dead, post what caused the death.

TC3k101....what made the 5200 rub?

at first thought it was a missaligned spider, then later found out my top assy was missing the hex screw that locks the qca in place. so the top assy and motor would loosen up and well it happened

3 8's

39.9 consistently

It will never be proved that loudness is somehow related to SPL because it isn't.

Loudness, a subjective measure, is often confused with objective measures of sound pressure such as decibels or sound intensity.

Building a stereo just to measure it's sound pressure level is like building a microwave oven for no reason other than to measure it's electromagnetic radiation emissions.
