Jacked from my Amp thread...

Hows this sound for a setup?

Focus on SQ & space issues and budget.

Front Stage:

Alpine 9883 HU

Hertz ESK 570 component set.

Stock Rear Fill.

JBL CS60.4 Front Stage Amp

Dynamat Extreme in all 4 doors.

Sub stage:

JL Audio 13TW5-3 (Sealed .83)

JL Audio 500.1 Sub Stage Amp

I'd have the enclosure mounted on the rear wall behind the back seats.

I'm thinking of putting the amps on a custom rack aside the sub enclosure so they can get more airflow. I'm afraid that when the rear seats are in the cargo position they would significantly decrease the amount of airflow availible to the amps.

My truck has stock tweeter mounts so hopefully the aftermarket units will fit. Otherwise I'd need to find a different tweeter. I'd like it to look as OEM as I can other than the HU.

It should like nice and stealthy.

Comments / opinions on setup, amps, other equipment and/ or lack there of?

What do you think the most I should shell out for this should be?

Thanks CA.com

"Budget" and JL don't go together, and that box is too small.
No dought. The sub is pretty **** expensive but I have are real problem with space behind the seat and I don't see many out there with a 3.5 mounting depth including some excersion.

13TW5-3 0.800 ft3

19 in. x 15 in. x 7.75

483 mm x 381 mm x 197 mm

The box dimensions will be different and more than likely a little larger than recommended.

Why do I need more airspace? If so, how will that change the bass?

Again, you're throwing cash out the window with that JL amp.
its a great amp

is it worth the $ sure.

can you find a different amp for less YES

look for one rated around 600-750@1ohm, that will give you about 500@1.5ohm

your right on witht he airspace you mentioned

dont go over 1ft3

and the TW5 is 2.5" mounting depth. there isnt another sub out there that shallow.

other than possibly Critical Mass which is even more $

Yeah I know it's 2.5 but isn't there a need to allow for the excersion also? I suppose I could put a grill over it but the space is so limited.

you can put them in a box about 3" deep and you are good

each of the chambers i had them in if i remember right was

19x17x5.5

in the words of cotjones
1 jl watt = 2 regular watts!
id never used JL before the TW5 and 1000/1v2 i just traded

i will say there is obviously more power for the $ out there

but

the 1k watts from JL does seem like more than other 1k watt amps out there

One of the reasons I like the JL is because I could get that through my local dealer. He price matches some what close most internet sale prices. I'd like to keep the money in my area if I could. Even if it means paying sales tax!

That PG amp is so much cheaper though....

Can anyone attest to their power and quality from personal experiance?

Is the sound deadener worth it?

highly regulated power supply

true 1k RMS, even during impedence rise

(part of the reason I wish JL made 2k rms) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Id sit down and figure out exactly what all you will be installing for amperage consumption and add another 10-15% amperage useage on top of that...
