Well i am working on my electrical but i have a question that i havent been able to find an answer to..

My delima... My main battery to my car is in the trunk of my car along with the 2nd battery i am getting. I know that i need to connect the two together from pos. to pos. and neg. to neg. What i am wondering is how can i wire the neg. from my alt. to my batterys in the back without direct grounding to my car's body.

When you connect pos to pos and neg to neg on the battery you will get 24 volts, not 12 volts. this is called a parallel connection and this is not good for and 12 volt system. You WILL be blowing fuses like how the avg American spends money...lol.

You want to connect it in series (pos to neg and pos to neg). By doing so, you will recieve 12 volts. Your storage capacity of your battery will increase.

hope this helps. If not check this out: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=198742

That will give him 24 volts, Do not listen to what he said, u want pos to pos, and neg to neg to ground. (U should know not to listen to him just by looking at how he uses a cap. lol)

Oh Boy...

Hello,

I would put a 200/Amp Solenoid in if you want to do Key-Off listening(Your Choice of course/:) ).That way you can do that without draining your starting battery.

Just a thought.Good luck with your system.

*Kind Regards*,

i put pos to pos and neg to neg and my 2nd battery boiled so much that it was like a guyser. Could the problem of been the fact that when i put in the 2nd battery it was almost completly dead?

The reason why your battery boiled over is because you hooked it up in parallel. Pos to pos and neg to neg to both batteries sees 24 volts not 12 volts. Trust me, I did a lot of research on it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Right on, figured they were very similar as an agm is a type of battery. Thanks

The subs alone are worth more than the whole exploder so this is a low budget oriented setup. Why i say no alt upgrades, batteries for some...
