my dad is going to buy the woofer from me. what he wants me to do is, he wants me to find replacement cones for the JBLs that he has (these cabinets are HUGE and the cone straight from jbl is 100 a pop, versus surround repair for 95 a pop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ) so i was looking for cones while trying to figure something out for the sub. now, here is the problem. this thing needs to PLAY, and when i say PLAY, i mean PLAY. heres what I am looking at.

http://www.behringer.com/EP2500/index.cfm?lang=ENG

makes 2400 watts into 4 ohms. how would i hook this amp up to the sub and then just run it off the LFE of the receiver? better yet, is there anything else out there like it? thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif (gotta ask teh experts, cause i'm a n00b)

Behringer EP2500 is a cloned QSC RMX2450 with a smaller transformer,

hence less power at 2 ohms/ch than the RMX. That doesn't mean it's a bad

amplifier, but the RMX sells for $600 street and EP2500 sells for $300 street,

you know where they cut corners. Price used RMX's if you can, see if there is

any deals first before seeking the Behringer. I usually see lots of QSC amps

on the auction site.

You can bridge the amplifier to drive one subwoofer as long as impedance is

4 ohms or greater. You will need a RCA to XLR adapter, store bought or DIY

one.

better yet, is there anything else out there like it?

There are a few brands that are cheaper in quality than Behringer.. perhaps

the Pyramid pro amps, etc., a step up from Behringer will be QSC RMX or Crown CE series. If you have a bucket of money, you can get more robust amplifiers to

drive the subwoofer.. like the kind daddy QSC PL6.0 or PL9.0 behemoths,

only found on the used market [there are more choices, but these two stand out].

I paid $400 used for my RMX2450.

k so then how do i hook it up to the sub, then from there to the receiver? i am a COMPLETE noob at pro audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

from the reciever to the rack and then to the woofer......you might need to find some wierd connects to make that happen tho....i think your going to need a 1/4" phone plug to banna plugs or whatever you use from the amp to the sub.
