Building a b0x for my power hx2, one 12", powered by one rf bd1000.1 at 1 ohm

gonna make a box with 4 ft/\3

here are the measurements including the 3/4 thick material.

h- 15 1/2"

w- 26 1/2"

d- 22 1/2"

using a link on your website, i get an internal volume of 4.25( alil more to account for displacements)

the port will be a slot,

h- 8"

w- 4"

L- 8.80

again using the link on your site, its tuned to 40 hz.

thats the box

now...

1) does that all sound, look g0od? measurements ok? tuned g0od?

2) will i be getting g0od bass ("spl") what can i do to get better?

3) i was thinking of putting the sub all the way on the left end of the box, and the port on the right end, is dat g0od?, does it matter? will that effect any thing. or do i center sub?

4) Do i center the port or do i use one of the walls?

1. The only change I might suggest is with a box that large you might want to add some internal bracing. Which would take up a little more internal volume. It would keep the box from flexing.

3. When I use one sub I usually put the sub at one end of the box and the port at the other end.

4. You can do it either way. I personally like to use the end of the enclosure as one side of the port.

Why such a high freq.??? Can't you tune it lower?? With a box that size and that kind of power, I would think you could get it down to at least in the low to mid 30's.

Lower tuning helps with low end extesion ( deep bass). To put it simply . ( there is more involved but this will give you the idea ) If you ever noticed the higher regions of bass don't take as much power to be loud. This is the reason for higher tuning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But with higher tuning the enclosure becomes more of a one note wonder. And start to sound like a@$ with music. I would go with the 35hz tuning. You will get plenty of loud. And it should give you pretty good low end extension.

alright 35hx it is, thanks alot, another thing i was wondering was....

some 1 told me that my port 8x4x8.8 didn't have enuff port area, and suggested 10x5,

now, if they are both tuned to 40 or 35, wuts the difference in port area if they both tunied to the same thing?

Theoretically the larger, shorter port allows air to escape easier. Thus coupling with the actual speaker cone creating greater output. I have noticed a difference in high output situations. I would say go with the greater port area. Be sure to round the edges of the port that are exposed inside the enclosure. This wil greatly reduce port noise.
