xxx 10 OR 12???

xxx 10" OR 12"??? Space is an issue and What are the bennifits of the 10 over the 12 and the 12 over the 10??? And yes I did a search to no prevail.

well if space is an issue, going with the ten will definitely save you some room on the box size (obviously).

as far as advantages/disadvantages... the ten will be able to be a little better at hitting the notes, being a lot better for SQ and the 12 will be louder

yep 12" will get twice as loud theoretically OR you can look at it as the 12" will get as loud as the 10" with 1/2 the power. The 10's recommended enclosure is REALLY REALLY small, but so is the 12" compared to others. 1 cube sealed is small, especially compared to my 3.8 cube net

sealed enclosure for my 15"

What are the exact recommended enclosures for the 10 and 12. I only have 2 cubic feet to work with. I would love to have ported but am willing to go sealed for some kick ars SQ.

Code:
I only have 2 cubic feet to work with. I would love to have ported

go with a single xxx12 in a 2cube ported box and you should have all the sq and spl you would need. just make sure that you power it well.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ya one XXX wil be insain, you'll love it. JUST make sure u got the room for it, cause a box does a hell of alot for a sub. But if you got the room, then hook it up!

Then seal it, mine was alot better for SQ sealed. ANd do 2 cubes sealed because RE spec enclosures are too small. Even Scott at RE (engineer there) admits that much larger enclosures work better for SQ. ONly reason they recommend such small enclosures is to make the sub more attractive to buyers.

Stangme01, don't you think thats on the huge side for a sealed 12" unless power was an issue. At the most I'd say 1.5 sealed for a 12. For my system design RE recommended 2.1cubes ported for each xxx12 and that's for setup geared more towards sq but yet still with the ablity to get down whenever I need it to. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

No, thats what RE will tell a regular customer because that reflects what is on their website. And for the same reason, to attract buyers. Once people there realize you are not the average street beater and know about speaker tuning and talk for a bit with them they will open up to you. I talk to Scott alot, sometimes to dave, and Scott agrees that 4 cubes + sealed is best for the xxx 15" and at least 1/2 that for the 12". Ported the xxx 15" really truely should get around 8 cubes, and the 12" more like 4-5 cubes.

Hell they recommend 1.89 cubes after displacement sealed for teh xxx 15" , do you know what type of alignment that is? Like .91 QTC thats way too high for any

SQ setup. Mine is right in the .77 QTC with the polyfill I've added. 12" in the 2 cubes sealed would be in teh same range.

I hear what you are saying and that may very well be the case, but I have to wonder if what's posted is the minimal enclosure for performance. Think about it for a second, we were putting 12's in 2cubes sealed 16yrs ago not because we wanted too but because we had to just to get them to sound worth anything and hell let's not even talk about ported. Technology has advance so much from then to now that we don't have to do this anymore for really good sound.

So my point is this, if it takes 2cubes sealed for the xxx12 to even begin sounding good or showing what it can do then in MY opinion it wouldn't be worth owning when there are plently other subs that will rock like a mofo in 1cube sealed. For my thinking anything over 1.5 cubes sealed, it had better be a 15 incher or a ported 12".

Believe me I do know what you are saying though because hell I remember the first line of the solobaric 12's were advertised as being designed for 1cube sealed and in that box they sounded like turds and it didn't matter how much power you put on them. Then I got a chance to see the sheet that Kicker would send the dealers on factory recommend boxes and they were I believe something like 2-2.5 cubes sealed.

I still plan on getting my 2 xxx12's and run them in 2.1cu ported each with about 1700wrms on each and I surely had better be happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif for if not then my alter-ego is going to wake from his centuries long slumber //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
