Xtant vs Rockford

Ive been looking at these amps for a IDQ12 D4 350w rms 700w max in a .85 sealed box. Im looking for SQ not SPL.

RF 351M 350rms $134

Xtant 301A 300rms $155

Xtant 3001T 300rms $129

Out of that list id take the 301a all day....U cant really compare Xtant to RF IMO..I had a 1001dx and just loved that amp....only reason i sold it was because it had scratches on the cover...And if ur looking at Xtant's newer line look into the Xtant 3.1 before that 3001t.....

Thanks DJ, price is a big factor the newer models are a little out of the range. Is there a big difference between the 301A, and the A3001T ? Danny

The 301a is a full range class AB amp. It does 300w rms in either 2 or 4 ohms.

The 3001T (or newer 3.1) is a class D amp. It will do 150w rms in 4ohms, and 300w rms in 2ohms.

The 301a requires a 50amp fuse while the 3001t requires a 30amp fuse. The 3001t is more efficient, but the 301a can play full range if necessary.

Go with the 301a if u dont want to spend the cash on the 3.1.

Full range means that it plays from 20Hz - 20KHz, the class D Xtants play from around 120Hz - 20Hz (the lowpass crossover isn't defeatable).

The low pass crossover is just to keep ot in its operating range. Most class D amps can't play above 200-ish Hz because the design of the amp makes it start to sound like noise above that freq.

I think the RF would be fine, but you need to figure out what reatures you need
