Would a single dashboard mid range still sound good

Would a single mid range dashboard speaker sound good I'm adding a new amp and replacing my door speakers and tweeters but there's not 2 mid range speakers only 1 it's right in the center of my dash above my radio it's a 4 inch mid range driver would changing this out make it sound better right not it's just the mid range and tweeters and subs in the back so would even just adding the stock mid range make it sound better
 
It's actually a speaker that covers full-range, not a midrange per se.

Center channel speakers, when not tuned specifically for the center-channel duty in a multi-speaker DSP-tuned environment, just muddy up the front stage; I'd skip the center speaker altogether.
 
It's actually a speaker that covers full-range, not a midrange per covers that 500-2500 range of frequency? I mens it's technically full range I guess but is 3 component that much better of 2 component the current set up sounds decent already

That's what I was thinking I might add 2 piller ones down the road but I thought mid range was that 500-2500 range of frequency is 3pc component that much better then 2pc

That center is a full-range speaker; to the extent it can play anything, it's still considered full-range, likely around 400hz to 10 kHz.

As for adding mids down the road, not that simple.

2-way versus 3-way means different capability requirements for the components, different crossover points, etc. Just adding a midrange to an existing 2-way component set without changing the frequencies (crossovers) that they are receiving signal from means you are adding overlapping (doubling) output at some frequencies, creating nulls or phase cancellations at other frequencies, very undesirable.

3-way done correctly does allow one to raise the front stage much higher, front and center of the listening area.

That said, it has a lot to do with not only the crossover points, but it's also due to their physical location, the beaming characteristics of a given-size driver you intend to use, its location, lobing, phase corrections at the crossover points, etc.
 
With a properly tuned DSP, you won't need a center channel speaker. But, if you get one, make sure that speaker is great for the range of music you wish to play through it. You can even go with two speakers in the dash.
 
While widbands specify a "wide" range, essentially covering low-ish midrange to high treble, a full range is going to cover a full-er range, almost the full 20-20k (theoretically).

Skip the center.

Music playback (the vast majority) is not mixed in mixed/mono or multi-channel playback; it should be heard through a left and right stereo configuration.

Granted, Dolby Atmos is coming, but even then, you have to have that head unit that deciphers multi-channel playback, and it's going to be a while before the source material is mixed and avaible for playback in your car.
