Would 4 (12")Alpine type R's (sealed)throw-down

I went to a car audio show this weekend and a guy had 2 12" Alpine type R's in a focus hatchback and 143.9 db. I didn't get to see his set-up or what type of box he was using for those speakers.

if this was the S.L.A.P. compition at baybrook, then it was my friend. sliver focus? two 12" type R's on a memphis 1000. his best run hit a 144.7. he's got the subs in a huge ported box, app. 6.63 cu.ft. this box takes up all of his trunk, but it does hit hard. i've got two 10" type R's, planning on adding a third, but with a mono amp, i'm not sure how great that would work, or the wireing... anyways, just adding my first post. duce.

when I took my last car in to get new tires, this guy at pep boys had 4 of them in his saturn, he bought them at soundwaves, a local shop, they put them in a sealed box in the back of his car, he was bragging about how expensive his car stereo was, he payed about $2,000 for his amps/subs, broke his heart when my 4 $100 Dayton DVC's off a $300 audiobahn amp stomped his ****, seriously made his system sound quiet

HA! :hilarious

I remember Soundwaves! They were always overpriced. They always mention that JL and Orion were the best b/c that was their best equiment. I lived in Huber Heights so I always went to the one on Brandt Pike.

Back on topic - 4 of those would probally aound ok.

what about running 4 12" type-r's off of 2 jbl 1200.1 amps? thats 600w rms per sub....is that a good way to go?
why not 1 jbl 1200.1 for all 4 type r's...... that makes more sense to me, 300 watts per type r........ ESP seeing how that's their rms

Doesnt mean they cant take more, put it this way, the RMS on your W7 is only 1000 watts, your over powering it if you go by your standerds by sending it only RMS.

Id go with the 2 1200.1 which would leave you room to upgrade later on...it should sound good

oh great, your responding, lol.....

sorry pack but i don't agree....

my sub is not even in the same category so pls don't mention it in the same phrase, besides that's not the topic....

i wouldn't send anything over 100 watts over the rms to a type r. Besides i really don't see a difference in performance by overpowering it anyways.... seems like a waste of money to me

yeah 1 channel should do it depending on ohm load but that 1200.1 is exaxctly that at 2ohm and 1ohm...... so i'm assuming its w/in that range from 2-1 (example 1.6 ohm is still 1200 watts).
