wich set-up is better?

2 kicker s12l7 in a 6.5 ft3 ported box

or

2 kicker s15l5 in a sealed 6.5 ft.3 box

i was going to do the 15's in a ported box but i dont have the room for ports

as the box will be roughly 16 h-36w-25d

wich set up would give me the most bass not sq.

they will be getting 750rms to each sub(just got my bx1500d today)

Out of those two setups the ported 12's will get louder (if that's what you meant by "better").

where could i put the ports?the box is 16in high and 36 in. wide

and the speaker will take up 15+inches

i just dont see anywhere to fit a 3''-16.25"-14.75" port on both sides.

it will have to be on the front too because the rest of the box will be up close to the car.

i doubt it....l7's are all around better subs. and if their ported they will own the l5's....

You don't *have* to use that size of a port.

Use two sealed 12's as a reference. Now lets pretend that the 2 15s (in a sealed box) are double the cone area of the two 12s; that would mean a (theoretical) 3db increase over the sealed 12s. Now port the two 12s; that will yield you a ~6db increase over the two sealed 12s. That means that two ported 12s should be ~3db louder than two 15s sealed.

You can't just take cone area and ignore the boxes used. All variables have to be equal (and in a ported vs. sealed, the variables aren't equal).,

if the box isn't common chamber, you need dual ports.

one reason i like CC boxes, I like the one-ported look myself. Cosmetic though.

cone area doesnt mean better spl...so your saying l5's (a lower level sub) has more spl then an l7? btw he said he was goin to SEAL the 15's and PORT the 12's

what size port would i need if i didnt divide them up(1 big port?)

i just went with what kicker has on there site for porting.

couldnt he just incorporate the ports into the 6.5 cubes? anyways x-max+sd usually gives you a good idea of spl. 15's are louder than the 12's if they have have more linear x-cursion and usable cone area, unless the ports could account for the lost cone space and x-max. but really ports are kinda overrated because if its a daily driver you get low lows and it'll drop below port tuning and sound ghey.
