Why are amps rated at 14.4 volts?

I constantly see amps rms shown at 14.4 volts. Seems like sneaky marketing since most systems do not play at 14.4 volts..

Then when u find one rated at 12.5 volts, and for the same price, you see that its efficiency is like 64% for christ sakes.

Guess there is always some compromise to make the dollar eh?

Yeah thats "supposed" to be how it is. But go out there and put a volt meter on your terminals. I bet it isn't 14.4, even with badass electrical setups.

Well I just checked mine - I'm at 13.35 resting, car off.

When i only had my SAE 1200D on my Kinetik HC 1800 and 250 amp alt, my voltage never went under 13.5, and best place to take voltage readings is at the amp terminals.
