I've only heard the Type R's at circuit city, so I can't give the best advice on those. I own a pair of the 15" phoenix gold titaniums. They kick some major ace. I seriously doubt you could do better for the going rate on ebay

i cant agree more. my friend has 2 12" type r's. i have 2 10" pg ti's. we both have ours in 1.0cuft per sub (not including displacement) sealed boxes hooked up to jbl600.1's. my subs hit louder and lower. i highly recommend the titaniums,and they are cheaper!

It matters what car you have too. And to tell you the truth I dont think 300 watts to each is enough power. My one 12 is hooked up to an RF 1500bd. I have the gain up a little past half. The SPL was equal to my neighbors 12w6 ported to JL standards, and much louder than my bros 2 10" XTRs in a bandbass box, he even admit it himself. Now the sound quality, let me tell you, is awesome. I have heard many subs and I had to chose this one, I simply fell in love. Ohh yeah and the price for one on ebay I just looked one up, brand new is 86 buy it now. Thats like what, 10 bucks more than the PG?

well of course it does. if i had a fbody my 10's would be ridiculous. i drive a maxima, my friend with the type r's had a shitty elantra. my car is bigger on the inside/outside so if anything he has the advantage. everyone still agress mine is considerably better. his spl is decent though. and i agree, i think the type r is a clean sounding sub. however, a few of my friends think its not very clear at all. my reasoning is that it doesnt go that deep so it plays the higher frequencies well. but who knows. my brother has a 94 tbird, with the same exact setup as me, and his hits harder than mine. his cars interior is smaller than mine and its ridiculously loud. 300 watts per sub is plenty for me. in my car car, i can be heard 3 stories up with my volume on 29/62 and my windows up.

If you look at the potential output, the PG's kill the type R's...18mm one way xmax fo PG compaired to 13.87 for the alpine. I know that's not the only thing that matters, but it helps a lot. I only have 190 watts RMS each going to my PG's for now and they still pound. People are really suprised when i tell them that's all i'm giving them. And don't even get me started about how great the SQ is. Bottom line is, i haven't heard of anyone that hasn't been completely happy with the titaniums.

I have 2 type r 12's 1 foot sealed with an audiobahn amp giving them 400 watts each and i love them. I cant say mine r better than the pg ti's cuz i have never heard them. But my type r's are very clean and the spl is great too. And about the guy that said they hit the highs but dont hit the lows as good i have no idea what he is talkin about. I have yet to play a song that these subs dont sound great..... but hey i have only had mine hooked up for a little over 2 weeks

they hit lows good, but for example: in ludacris-splash waterfalls, it has a real low bass that my friends 12's barely hit whereas mine pound. it could be that my box is just as big for 10's as his are for 12's but i still think his could do better.

My oppinion the type R's, if you get them a good amp they will sound better than those Pg's.

The xmax on the type r's are better.

um, wrong...go to each manufacturers website and download the t/s parameters. i believe 36.2 divided by 2 is 18.1...which is a little bit more than 13 something.

BS, not many subs have that big of xmax and highly doubt that either of those subs do, the alpine is right go check any site or maufacters site. The pg, is in my friends manuel.

Go to alpine.com, then look at the type r, read the manuel and look on page 2, it says 13.35MM Xmax for the 12".

Sorry the PG is 18MM, i would take the PG over the Alpine.
