Which H/U

I'm in the market for a new h/u. I had a Kenwood that went bad on me, not really sure if I should stick with them. Was considering a KDC-MP822, it's one of the D-Masks with 3 RCA's 2V each... Well i'm debating between that, and the new Alpine CDA-9839, also has a motorized face and 3RCA's but 4v. I'm leaning towards the Alpine cuz of my bad experience with kenwood and cuz i've had good alpines in the past, and alpine makes cd/mp3 changers. If not that I was really attracted to the Pioneer DEH-P7600MP. Nothing special about it, no motorized face, but it has the Organic EL display (what caught my eye), but it only had 2.2 V preouts. Should I really take the preouts into consideration? And do the D-Masks's fail a lot? My friend has a Panasonic CQ-C8100U, a motorized face unit with 2.5 V preamps and a nice display. My only question about that was Panasonic's car audio reliability. Do any of you guys favor any brands over others? Kenwood, Alpine, Panasonic, Pioneer...And what about JVC? I've owned a JVC too and had good experience. Should I really just be looking at the RCA voltages cuz that's really the only differences in specs...theyr'e all similarly priced

I've had some problems with Kenwood HUs, I would avoid them as well.. I've always had good experiences with Pioneer decks, and I've heard a lot of good things about Alpine HUs, but I've never actually owned one myself.

To me, a motorized face is just another thing to break, I've seen a few of them break.. And pre-out voltage doesn't really make a huge difference, although if you choose to get a Pioneer HU, I would get one of the new models. Supposedly they switched to a new Burr Brown DAC and have better SQ than the older models.

I have at one time owned both a Panasonic and JVC HU. Actually I didn't have any problems with either, but I don't think I used them for very long.. SQ or features didn't really impress me.

Yes, the Kenwood Masks fail alot. I had a Mask....and the motorized faceplate broke 5 times in 6 months //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I would take Pioneer and Alpine over Panasonic and JVC any day of the week.

And no, preout voltage isn't a huge deal.

what about non-fading.......right now i guess i'm gonna go with the alpine cda-9830 over the pioneer deh-7600mp. The pioneer looks better, no motorized face, 2.2v VS. ugly alpine green buttons, motorized, 4v.... unless you guys can suggest anything else for 240 SHIPPED

I'm partial to Alpine, but I've installed the newer Pioneers.. not bad 'tall. I don't think there's an Alpine 9839, perhaps you mean the 9835? This is a lovely model which I happened to just order, I'll let you know what I think when I get it.. though I highly doubt I'll be dissappointed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no i'm sure its the 9830. the 9835 is freakin expensive man. i dont need anything like that till i go nuts on this thing. everything is basic man...profile amps...infinity speaks...kicker l5s.. not till i get some high end merchandise runnin will i get a 9835. anyway, the alpine has pretty much all the specs over the pioneer except its just ugly... i think i'm gonna get it anyway tho. the 9835 is much sexier tho i must say

The DEH-P760MP, one of the premier ones caught my eye. It's about the same price as the pioneer I was considering. There doesn't seem to be much difference in specs. They both have 2v rcas and the organic el display. But I guess i'd rather have the premier over the pioneer cuz of the name. Anyway, should I get that or the cda-9830 alpine i was originally thinkinga bout getting. the alpines uglier but has 4v preamps...i've never had anything above 2 so 4 sounds really nice and i dont think i need the organic el display cuz it'll only distract me further. i might've answered my own question but are there any people out there that swear by pioneer for any reasons?

I swear by Pioneer. Why? Because it has never let me down, always gives me great features for a great price, I (generally) like their cosmetics, usually comes at a good (or atleast competitive) price, and I have been using them long enough that I know how all their features work and how/why/when to use them. I've been using Pioneer Premier decks for ~6 years, and I have never had one problem with them. Plus, I think within those 6 years I've only ever had any of their decks skip two or three times on me (and that was only when I hit potholes big enough to flatten my tire).

With properly set gains, you won't hear a difference sound quality wise between the decks (even though they have different preout voltages). The differences mainly come into play with features, cosmetics (whether you like them or not), and warranty.

Alright, yea because half my friends are pioneer bias and the other are alpine/eclipse. Those with the pioneers say the lower voltage doesn't matter but the organic el isn't really for me even though the alpine is ugly. thanks for ur input
