Which amp for a Kicker 05S12L5 sub

noob here...just need a few opinions and suggestions for a sub I recently picked up from CC.

I picked up a Kicker 05S12L5 dual 4ohm at my local circuit city with a mtx bass slammer vented box...it was a HUGE price mistake ($75 to be exact) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif , thus the reason for the questions.

I'll be running this at 2ohms so I'll need an amp capable of being stable and having enough power to push this square...my budget is about $250-400 shipped from a reputable dealer with full warranty. Also the set up is going in a 03 accord (if that matters) Here are my choices so far and as I said before I'm open to all recommendations

1. JBL GTO1201.1 - RMS Power: 1114W x 1 @ 2 Ohms (looks real good) $388 shipped

2. JBL BP1200.1 - RMS Output 2 Ohms: 1200W x 1 (again, looks real good) $400 shipped

3. Kicker ZX1000.1 - RMS Power (2 ohms) 1000 watts x 1 chan $398 shipped

The prices are kind of pushing my budget. I've been reading the forums for some time and been hearing about directed audio, orion and a few other cheaper brands. Would you guys suggest getting something a little cheaper because there wouldn't be a big difference in performance?

Right now I'm leaning towards the gto1201.1 because the specs say GET ME. The BP1200.1 is old but I already have one powering a set in my brothers car and I've had an awesome experience with them. The kicker isn't bad either but the specs aren't the same as the other two and it's more expensive...so which one would you get considering i'll be running at 2ohms

Other suggestions are welcome, but they should be powerful enough for future upgrades and also between 250-400. They're way to many amps out there now a days...dam confusing!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Anyways thanks in advance! I'd like to pick one up asap...I'll prob order over the weekend so please do input! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My opinion Circuit City is over priced , you would be better off going to a car audio shop. There atleast they will bargain with you, give you advice on what your looking for and have a better selection on good audio equipment. Circuit City I've noticed don't sell the good stuff. Mostly the lower end mainstream stuff. If you want L7's and like a Kicker 1200.1 you probably won't find it at C.C. Atleast here in Houston it's that way. Good luck dude.

is my circuit city (detroit area) the only one that doesnt carry L7 and L7's
that's odd...circuitcity.com carries the kicker line so I'm sure your circuit city does as well. Have you checked other CCs around you? Maybe the the local CC stopped carrying them because they didn't have enough room or something.

Also, the ed nine.1 is backordered from the website. I don't know of any other place to order it from though. they have a 20% discount as well so that would make the final price $270ish and that's awesome!

I think there's a misunderstanding - I already purchased a L5 with a mtx for $75. The pricemistake was that only the BOX was supposed to be $75 but they had it marked as a full set. They found out after I had checked out and they couldn't do anything them. I am fully aware circuit city/best buy/tweeter are WAY overpriced, not just for car audio but for everything. tweeter is asking $500+tax for the gto1201.1 and the other two don't even carry it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I am def not looking at those stores to purchase the amp and wiring kit.

I'm just intersted in purchasing an amp online. I've looked at techronics.com adn they have decent prices (cheapest reputable dealer for the kicker and gto amp, adn they're the only ones who carry a new bp1200.1). Somone made a suggestion about looking at a ed nine.1. Those seem really good esp if I can get the $270 price after hte discount. it's rated at 950 at 2 ohms but the only problem is it's backordered.

sorry about the misunderstanding

C.C. here does sell Kicker. but they don't sell any mono amps. All 2 channel. No 15 inch L7's heck now that I think about it I don't think I have seen any L7's in there, only the L5's. Usually nothing over 800w - 1000w on there amps.

I would get the MA HK1998.They are 1200rms@2ohmd@17V

So at 13V more like 1000-1100rms@2ohms

PPl get on them really bad but look at this

About 95-125$ Ya they arent the most reliable but they come with a 3 year warrenty

i find those wattage calculations dubious at best, but I did have an MA Audio HK-797 800 watt amp, and it was very dependable and gave out **** close to rated power, they arn't as bad as you might think, cheaper than hell too.
