Where does the Voltage Drop?

Ok, I have a dual display/dual source voltage gauge. I am going to hook up the main contact to the alternator... where is the best place for the Aux signal? I was thinking at the input of the power distribution block. Second question, do you think the voltage will be the same at the alternator as it would be at the distribution block after the battery? 6th question. The voltage should be different at the distribution block with music playing than at the alternator right?
