When do decals become illegal?

I got a couple of sets of Oakley decals today and there black, so It doesnt show up on my windows. I was wondering if I put one of the decals on the 3rd brake light if that would be illegal? You would still see the light and if I recall Ive seen these covers people put over them. Has anyone else done this or know if it would be illegal or what?

I have a decal over my 3rd brake light that makes it so when im on the brakes it says RAM AIR. I think as long as you can still see the light your ok.

is it a solid color font or is it those stickers with alot of dots that make a pic? Have you been pulled over for it?

Sounds illegal to me.... technically.
I mean, as a Jeeper, even the bush guards that you can put on your rear tail lights are illegal.

But then again the 3rd brake light is an alternate anyhow. You still have the other two functioning normal.

Cali is so square and stupid though. It barely counts as a state anymore.

Probably because you were ordering it, and they probably picked them up locally. Companies watch their backs ahrdcore with state laws.

If it was one of those dot deals, I doubt it'd be an issue. I'd test the brightness before going on the highway. Like, have someone stand so far back or something. Better to look lame than pay a ticket.

I had a set of those on one of my trucks a decade ago. It was illegal, but I never got beef. It is all about the cop and what mood they are in I guess.

yeah, I think Ill put it on and have some stand back and see how visible it really is. Like someone said before, I doubt the decal will stay on for a long time anyways

Yeah they send me a big logo decal and than the gascan logo. Weird since I bought the crosshairs but Im not complaining

I just had to drive around with my high beams on to get normal light. Say good by to the normal highbeam brightness unless you get fog lights.

yeah true, I think i got a pair of fog lights somewhere too
