Whats the best way...

Well my brother tracks his AWD STi and we just put coilovers on it. (KW variant III IIRC) -And got an aggressive alignment afterwards.

But I'm guessing that by 4WD you mean "truck"?

Exactly. Awd and 4wd are indeed different.
I'm assuming you define 4wd as no center diff and awd as having a center diff? Plenty of cars have what you would define "4wd" as, in this case, in fact I have a Subaru with no center diff in the garage right now. And when you bring electronic diffs into it, it gets a whole lot more complicated trying to separate the two.
But back on topic, it depends on how much you want to lower it by?

4wd is full time locked

awd allows tires to move at different speeds so it doesn't bind

I have a bagged a few 4x4s for friends. Takes a good amount of work to keep everything working if that is the goal. Depending on how much you plan to lower it, it would require much of the same customization as bagging does.

AWD is not the same thing as 4WD, ya fucking twit.
It's funny how you type that like I'm comparing a tricycle to a Porsche.

When a car has 4 "Wheels" and uses "All" of them to "Drive"......that's 4 Wheels Driving the car.

I don't know if you didn't know the STi has 4 wheels or you didn't understand what the "A" in AWD stands for.

Maybe you think the lack of a 2WD mode makes the reference to lowering a vehicle, with a center differential and axles for every wheel, somehow not applicable to a vehicle that has similar equipment but doesn't use it all the time?

Either way, beyond the semantic differences, you have offered no evidence that the technical differences between the two drive-trains are relevant to the question posed. (lowering)

The center diff and the hardware related to driving all 4 wheels in my brothers car caused no problems when we lowered his vehicle with coil-overs.

If you have some insight as to how or why the technical difference between two drive-train designations has any bearing on the question at hand, please share.

Otherwise, your ability to discern the difference between the letter "A" and the number "4", while amusing in a Sesame Street sort of way, is otherwise useless. jackass.
