My brother wants to get 2 12" power hx2's or 2 15" kicker L7's. And we was wondering wich one would get louder in a box built to manufacteres specifications, I think for the powers it is 2.5 cubic ft. each, tuned to 35hz and I'm not sure about the 15" L7's but anyways wich one of these 2 subs would be louder. He will be using a concept 2400d or an orion xtr pro 2400 amplifier.

Thanks

From my personal experience power hx2's get louder. But two 15 L7's vs two 12 power hx2's really isn't a fair comparison, of course the 15 will get louder. Now with 2 power hx2 15's vs 2 L7 15's id put my money on the power hx2's.

Its really in the install but I'd say the Kicker's would get a little louder. (15 vs. 15 comparison) But like I said, its in the install I've seen a guy with 6 Power HX2 15 get beat in a contest by a guy with 2 13w7's. Didnt think that was fair, figured the HX2's would kill them but turns out none of them had the right space. HX2 12 vs. Kicker 12 I'd take the L7's if we're looking for SPL, the 12's vs. the 15's is a no brainer.

Power hx2's get louder IMO.
thats a bold statement but i got plenty of SPL numbers that prove otherwise, and thats coming from someone who's running HX2's. I've beat plenty of L5's, but L7's are another story. Even when they were ported and hittin high 40's and low 50's my friend with L7's was still hittin higher SPL numbers in a smaller box(7 cubic to 5 cubic) with less watts on them 2200 to 1500.

he had the "near" perfect setup, he went to school in canada, not sure what the place is called but they teach courses on mobile installation and he has the "bible", lol on the L7. When he was there Kicker sent him the entire book, something like 70 pages of info on the L7, he turned that knowledge into his system and the least he's ever hit with a mic is 151, he's more than capable of push mid 50's with just 2 12's.

No, not a bold statement but a true statement based on my experiences and my experiences only. In my experinces i've found that power hx2's get a little louder than l7's. You say you spl numbers to prove otherwise but I have spl numbers that prove likewise. Im doing 145's New termlab all day with my power hx2 15 in 4^ft which is higher than i was hitting with my L7 15 in 6^ft off the same amp. Yes I have owned both subs in question and i can honestly say that they are so close that the install will probably be the determining factor, but from my experiences all things being equal the powers will get a little louder. And your running your power hx2's sealed which is a major no no and pretty much speaks for itself.

You know you guys kill me with your BS. So just because my opinion doesn't match yours it means that I'm biased huh lol. So what I own a power hx2, i've owned a L7 and many other subs as well so how am I biased? I'm not, I just once again stated MY opinion, so if you dont like it then dont like it, but dont attack it. Did i attack any of your opinions? No, because I know that an opinion is just that, an opinoin, and no matter what anybody else says it not going to change it.

78nova I would try and listen to both subs in question and come with your own opinion they are very close in output and it will proabably come down to install, good luck.

Guys, it's reqally install and interior dependant. There is NO WAY to say in a certain car application which is louder without actually placing a head/head test with same power....just saying woofer X is, is a pure guess........

Why not just go wtiht the SX's? I would get those over the L7's and the HX2's anyday. Just give the SX 11-1300 and it should be louder and sound a tad better than both subs mentioned.
