what sounds louder to the ears?

high tuned boxes will be louder to the ear. im all about lows, but when i changed from an improper tuned box that was tuned to 12.7hz, then switched to a properly tuned box tuned to 34hz, i heard and felt a huge difference.

im a retard. im with the guy that made the thread. i was told the higher u tuned a box the louder it would be but the low end would not be as solid.

The higher a box is tuned, the drastically lower the gains will be for the lows. Versus tuning it low, which will give you some what more equal gains throughout range.

i have a box tuned at 34 hz now, but im not happy the low end. what could do as far as getting my low end deeped and more solid??? i did polyfil is that the only solution??? i also changed from L7 12's to Cvx 12's. is that a problem???

Well, the easiest solution would be to just changed the tuning of your box. If that doesn't fix it, then start looking at more expensive alternatives, like changing subwoofers and sound deadener.

34 is still a low tuning. if you were to tune to 50 im sure 34 would sound louder. but there is a chance 50 would get louder on the meter

same tuning, bigger box should do that trick.

another reason i asked, is because a co-worker has a 12" solox in a boxed tuned to 45 hz, and another co-worker has a jl 12" w7 tuned to 34hz. the solox has 2500 watts rms and the jl audio w7 has around 1200 rms. the funny thing is that i hear my co-worker with the w7 way before i see him coming up the road to work. and the guy with the solox has to be atleast half way up the hill before i can hear him. i dont understand that part. the solox is in a tundra and the w7 is in a vw gsi. i dunno, its weird to me. i'd think the solox would be way louder than that.
