I want to buy me a kick-ass system.

What should i buy?

I have an upper limit on about 5000$ (+/-)

The car i will use i an MB 230 CE

This is what i have

Pioneer DEH9100 | cdunit

Pioneer | Front Speakers

Infinity Kappa | Back Speakers

Lightning Audio 5.700 | Amp

JBL NT 12" 1000watt | Sub

The only thing i will use is the Infinity Kappa speakers?

The other should i sell?

This is want people has recommended for me:

Alpine CDA-7969R or Pioneer DEH-P9300R

(i want the Pioneer because the display, but they say the Alpine has better sound)

Focal 165V3

Rockford BD1000a amp

(I want the Rockford bd 1500, but they said i needs to much power)

Rockford Fosgate G800a sub

This will cost about 3000$

Anyone have some better solutions?

skip the alpo, go with the pioneer. but you might want to wait a few months aqs I just got back from CES and pio has some sweet stuff comming out.

skip the RF amps, they are dirty.

what kind of car is this? that will limit what you can install in some cases.

I would go with the eclipse point source 6 inch front and rears

eclipses big 4 channel( not at the store right now so cant give ya model #) DEI 1100d for sub amp,

either 2 12w7 jl audio, or the new diamond audio woofers( dont have # on diamond as we are a new dealer for them and they havent shipped to us yet)

I would say go with the w7's theyll destroy anything skwakford has.

also get yourself some sort of power stiffening.

I would recommend the alumapro 5 farad cap, very sweet piece.

Your telling me you can hear a sound quality difference in the two 1000w class d sub amps mentioned. I have to throw the B.S. flag on that one.

If Rockford Fosgate amps are "dirty " as you put. Then how have so many SQ competitors won using them ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Dude, I would say go with what ever sounds best to you personally. YOU have to listen to it everyday, YOU are the one paying for it. I see nothing wrong with the system you have outlined.

you can throw a bs flag anywhere ya want bro.

since rf went public and decided to sell to everyone, and went out of the specialist chains the quality has dropped dramatically.

I used to be a RF guy too, ive been to topgun rtti ect...

ive learned much of what I know from mark lowe and brian schmidt. I even still have a rf 400x4 and a 60dsm in my truck. but the new stuff just has problems. the power consumption and heat issues are just two I can think of off the top of my head.

please oh great one explain why many of the faithfull specialist dealers have moved away from rockford as well as the most recent departure of cartoys from the RF dealers.

Face it RF is not what it used to be. Also you mention that I said I could hear a difference in the sound quality....hmmmm I dont think I said that. look at the output side of a RF on a scope sometime and compare it to another specialist brand.

do this test with the same head unit and a pink noise cd or a 1k tone. set the gains to as close as you can get them with a dmm and youll see what I mean.

But if RF is not a good choice. What should i then choose?

Audioson?

What is the best amp i may buy for with the price 1000$ - 3000$

Or should i consider buing two with less watt and use them?

If i want to compite, what is the best i may get for under 5000$ I will use a 1991 Mercedes 230 CE.

I must make one other addition to this thread. this info I am stating does not relate to the new RF stuff. As I have yet to get my hands on any yet.

so with that said the new RF may have been improved but from the track record the last few years it isnt promising imo.

sorry if I have ruffled any feathers

It is a 1991 Mercedes 230 CE, i think i will use most of the trunk to my stereo, with some plexi and neon, i think i will be pretty cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I just need one power cap or would you suggest 2?

let me re-phrase please. I do not care for RF anymore, Im not saying they are junk or a bad investment but "I" would not buy one, given thier past track reacord and problems that we've had with them.

it all really depends on what the dealers in your area are selliing. I would try to avoid MO as that can be a pain if you have a warranty issue. some companies require you to send the amp(or what ever you buy) back to them for service and youll be without tunes for a while. while if you go with a local dealer most take care of warranty stuff right there.

for subs Eclipse showed a new 2800 watt class d amp that should ship later this year. you may want to check into it.

also the Directed electronics amps are the sleeper amps of last year. Rated VERY highly in all the car mags and among peers as well. the world spl record was set using 4 dei 100d's

slaved together. I think the spl was 171.6 or somewhere around there. it may have been beaten by now, but I havent heard anyone beating it yet. I can remember the woffer either.

the dei amps are also coming out with a 2400d that boasts 2400watts!

well what do you want to compete in? iasca, usac, local soundoffs?????

spl sound q?

But i should use RF? What about Audioson and Candenze?

If i should use RF, should i then use BD1000a og BD1500?

I also know that many competitors won using RF. But is it the best i can get in my price class. The amp should cost something around 1000$ - 3000$ (+/-)?

So you say i should buy Eclipse instead of RF?

ok here would be my recommendation based upon 10 years of installing and the product I am most familier with....

Sub amps

1st choice----- DEI 1100d

2nd choice----JL audio 1000.1

3rd choice----mtx 1000

there ya go take from it what ya can use

In the start local soundoffs, and i hope i may get me a good enough equipment to get a descent place in the competitions.

A friend of my is using a old Harman Kardon AMP and 2 x 15" Cervin Vega subs. He have a Sony Blackdisplay or something as CD unit, and a second Boss AMP and 4 Infinity Kappa speakers back and 2 sony speakers in front.

I will at least beat him. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Tnx a lot for your information. I will check out theese amps.

I have a JL 300/4 and a 250/1, these amps run very clean and produce very little heat. I can play my system all day and still be able to place my hand on the amp. The 500/1 even puts out 552 w RMS at 4 ohms. They have advanced power supplies in them also. They deliever at least the ratted output even if the voltage drops to as low as 11 volts. I see no reason to believe that the JL 1000/1 will be any different.

dude I just got back from the ces show and the 1000.1 will be available in march. they had 2 12w7's with a 1000.1 on each and man it was great!

aside from eclipse I think its one of the cleanest amps on the market to date.

the new 5 channel is available now too cant remember specs tho(bad hangover that day)
