So I have a 96 firebird and I would like to mount 2 12 inch xl series from MA Audio in my ttop holder. I dont know if they are a good choice. I want to run the 2502HC from MA Audio to them that putts out enough power I think and I dont know if I need a cap and I am just gonna get a decsent headunit. But is the sub and amp choices good or not is that a good setup for a firebird. I am about to buy and everyone is tell me different brands and setups but ALL opinions are welcomed!

well i would say box wise that making a custom box is probly the best way to go. I would run a cap, it helps with the lights dimming alittle bit.as far as MA Audio I have no clue. as long as the amp can pump more than 200 watts X 2 then it should be fine or 400+ watts bridged. Good luck...

Well, I certainly can not reccomend MA Audio one bit. Trouble waiting to happen......

For a little history lesson, MA Audio is nothing more than flea market material. Also known/associated with Mobile Authority, Anaba USA, Thump. Very poor quality and highly unreliable. A good many serious. and amature audiophiles will easily attest to this from learning the hard way.

I have installed quite a few high end systems in Firebirds and can say that my preference lies with JL Audio and Phoenix Gold. They just seem to work very nicely in that particular car.

What are you looking at budget wise? Also sound preference SPL or SQ?

Sorry about the delayed response, rather busy at the moment so I post as time allows.

I would like spl and a descent sq! I think budget wise 1000 dollars for hu subs amp and reast of stuff including custom box plan to buy on ebay for better prices! So no MA that is ok i dont no really about JL they sound good but i just want more bass outta my car is audiobahn seriously the best everyone says they like them on this site so i feel the site is biased! Anyway just hit me some recommendations thanks!

Ok, now that we have the basics........

and to unbias things a little- I would not reccomend Audiobahn. Compared to the likes of Ininity, JL Audio, Adire, etc- they are not even in the same catagory- but hey, Audiobahn does have chrome!!!

To begin with the bass, I would suggest looking into a set of Image Dynamics IDQ 12's. They offer an excellent blend of SQ and SPL and are capable of highly impressive output.

Ampwise, take a look at a Harrison Labs AE 400.1. These amps are highly versatile and backed by a very impressive warranty. Thier Class D Circuitry is some of the finest available and thier amps will put out far more than they are rated at.

This is a start........

Hey Zane well bout them Harrison Labs Amps... would the AE 800.4 run an Adire Tempest flawless? or pump the damn thing till my little hearts content??? I checked out Black00's S-10 nice set up, and the box is well done too. Have you used the HLABS in an install b4? I have never heard of them, but their prices are very resonable and the quality made in the USA cant beat that... also how about their EQ's? I have filled my brain with sooo much info lately that its about to explode! I want to plot out everything to a T for my system so i have only minimal hang ups lol...thanx for your time your the best! Thanx

Thanks for the kind words!
just might get a complex here..... he he he!

Ok, the AE800.4 will definately push an Adire Tempest very well. Allthough the tempest is rated 750W RMS- it is still a highly efficient woofer- the base 800watts is an RMS rating also- and these amps are exceptionally capable of exceding thier output. In a lot of situations I would be more worried about the AE800.4 being too much for the sub- however, the tempest will take it-and use it effectively.---No worries here about the sub/amp config. should make you quite happy!

I have installed and used- ok more like- abused in more forms know to man- a Harrison Labs AE1600.2 and could not get it to waiver from its in your face output one bit. Rock solid amps! Even at 1 ohm- still cool. I pushed it to .5 ohm- -didnt seem to mind it there one bit either. These are some of the most impressive amps that I have seen thus far.

Take a look at some of thier technical data:
