heh.
I guess this is an explination/glory post, but meh, it will give all you lurkers something to read for a little bit.
I went to florida in early July, then came home and then went straight out to req's house for a week. 7.5 hr, 500 mile drive or so. When i got there it was so damn hot for a straight week we couldn't get much done without becoming drenched with sweat.
Req's rear deck and trunk got finished (I still owe him pictures) and my car's koda pods are a few steps away from being painted. I did get the Koda 8's installed as well as the Phoenix Gold 15-band EQ/Xover, and the Koda's sound amazing. I have some midrange frequencies that distort easily and we'll see what we can do to fix that. No pictures of that, until the whole pod is done. I'll have plenty when they are, though.
Req and I also made a port for my box, but it turns out that the port was too narrow, too long, and too bendy to actually work well as Mike, Noah, and some other dude told me earlier today. My trunk idea is now scrapped. I have two Avalanche 15's on their way to me, whenever Ascendant gets them in stock. I'll probably try to find a more standard way of mounting them.
On the day of my return I recieved a laptop computer that I had ordered previously. I set it up and it wasn't working like i thought it should, so over the last week I've constantly been on Compaq customer service to get it going perfectly. That was settled a couple days ago, and now it works fantastically.
Upon my arrival in my room, my parents had cleaned and rearranged all of my stuff, as well as uncluttered it of all the stuff that i never use anymore. They painted the walls, cleaned the carpet, gave me a TV, and a giant desk for my laptop.
On the third day I was back I parked the car on the street overnight, and a woman from across the street backed her car into my driver side door. I will have pictures of that to post here in a little bit, but the damage is staggaring for what she calls an "idling speed." The driver side door will need replaced, and the driver side rear door has significant scratches on it, but as far as i can tell has no structural damage.
Today I got an estimate, the damage is $1,623.00. I'll be getting that in a check here in a few weeks. With the money I will be going to a junkyard to salvage a door from a broken 1995 camry, and then I will get the car a medium scale paint job. I don't know anything about paint jobs. I probably will go with the same color but if i wanted to, how much would it be to get the car painted a different color, if i would want parts like door hinges and door trim to be painted as well?
The girlfriend hates me now because I've spent so much time with my computer and fixing my laptop and rearranging my room and worrying about my car and unpacking. Hell, I haven't even unpacked the mess that was left from all of my car-working odds and ends that I ended up just throwing into my trunk on departure from req's house.
I think car audio teams are stupid. I dropped out of TD because I don't see the point. We shouldn't dislike someone because they are in a specific team or give certain benefits (deals on car audio equipment or accessories, advice, information, etc) to those that are in ours. People should be able to help everyone.
So basically my room has my desktop, my laptop, my nice home stereo, my playstation2, a tv, and a giant desk in it. i'm pretty happy about that. my car has a giant dent in it, but i'm getting a $1.5k+ check to do whatever i want with because of it. but my girlfriend and i are having severe problems and i dont know what will happen if we end.
No "dump her, there are other people" comments please.
RE amp is still not working. I can't get ahold of a stupid A1266 part. I called Sergey at KBAudio numerous times, he has "sent" a pair of them to me twice already, and I dont want to ask him for another. If anyone has a dead amplifier with a part number "A1266" on it, i would enjoy it if you could solder it out for me and ship it my way.
Tweeterpods are fuxed. The driver side pod has fallen completely off (ABS Plastic does not stick) and the passenger side has many cracks on it from being too big to fit into the hinge. I need to redo them completely, I believe.
Thanks for reading. Any input, like about the paint job, or the A1266 part, would be greatly appreciated.
