What Happened To ED's "A" Series?

What happened to Elemental Designs A-Series?

I went to their website. They say their revamping it, or something, but you can still buy subs from them. I looked, and couldn't find even one A series for sale. What happened?

I wanted to try one of those out. Are they coming out with a new top notch series or somethin'?

ED got in cahoots with their manufacture. The nomex cones just weren't working out for them, so now they are making K,O,A version 2.0 series. They won't have the flat cone anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif . But they will wang. The new A series has a msus of 43MM. So the liklihood of breaking them due to mechanical limits, like the old ones, has been lessened dramatically. Yes the subwoofer looks very promising.

There is a nice video of a 12" EDA vs2 somewhere, but I can't find it right now. I'll keep my eyes open and post it if i find it.

yup, i've a good feeling that the v2 would be heaps better.

Yes, Their reccomended ported boxes won't change for either the 12 or 15.

And you say the xmax is longer now too?

I might have to cheat on my Crystal and try the new A series when it comes out. That is, if it's still affordable.

The Xmax is very simliar I believe. I think ~32mm. But it has a good 10mm of extra each way for saftey purposes. The older ones once you hit the limite you pretty much hit a brick wall. This extra space will slow the speaker down before the vc and the backplate hit minimizing damage (I believe).
