I am just curious as to what are thee best subs out there on any market, either personal or compitition. I am looking at running 4 12's in a Ext cab truck, what would be the best sub for that? Hi SPL, and High SQ, either DVC or SVC, the amp will be a Tarantula Amp from Soundstream. Thanx

Well there is no answer to your question as there really is no one "best" sub. Install, veicle, and experience with the product have great effects on how a speaker performs.

However, in a generalization; some of the more successful models for each Class today are found below.

SPL Applications

Digital Designs The Beast

Cerwin Vega Stroker

Kicker L7

Kicker Solo Barric

Adire Audio Tempest

Mmatts Jugernauts

Orion XTR

Atomic Thunder Shocker

SQ

Eclipse 88120ti

Eclipse 88120

Infinity Perfect

Soundstream Exact

Alumapro Alchemy

JlAudio W7

The best thing you can do is go to a few shows or even just listen to as many peoples systems as you can. Read the information available and make your decision from there.

A few good sites to get you started with information are:

www.meisearch.com

www.installdr.com

www.soundoff.org

www.iasca.com

www.sounddomain.com

www.soundillusions.net

I also have a complete listing of most major manufacturers in the mobile audio industry available and linked to on my site.

Soundwaves Car Stereo

My site is on a temp build platform right now but will be changing domains/servers soon. I try to keep an ammount of information available there that is useful. It is currently under construction, however, It does provide easy manufacturers website links to make thigs easier.

Do a little research, and let your ears decide what you like.

Take it easy.

The only one I know for sure that will also do high Sq is the Kicker L7..That thing sounds sweet.

The stroker is just plain SPL and the only info I have about DD is just hearsay, but looks like a straight SPL monster.

Zane if I am wrong correct me, I promise not to bite as long as you dont hurt my feelings while doing so.. Just kiddin

The L7 has more of an even blend, however I would say that the Adire Audio Tempest carries the best blend overall. The Stroker- yup-SPL all the way, little SQ to be found. DD's are about 75/25 SPL/SQ blend from what I have seen.

Thanx Zane. I have been very interested in competing for a long time now. I guess now is the time for it. I think I will give the Kicker L7's a shot. The blend between high SQ and SPL is what I am looking for. Its a LONG road ahead of me. Thanx for your help I am sure I will be needing it again in the future...thanx again

if you can afford a ****ing tarantula amp you should just try every kind of sub and find out which one you like. But seriously try Rockfor Fosgate or stroker if you want loud

If you want the ULTIMATE in SQ, try finding a person that will let go of their Phoenix Gold Cyclone. That baby is a work of art, it uses no voice coils, spiders, surround, or even a cone. It uses rotational magnets, it doesn't even look like a sub! Since it doesn't use any of thoose it achieves more than 3 times less distortion of a normal sub. Another thing that separates it from any other o called SQ sub is that it reaches sub-sub bass, hitting flawlessly down to 11 hz, with no problem at all. It's best sound level comes at 20 hz where most subs cut out. If you want one, look luck findng it, most people who use them use it for home audio now and won't let go of one for nothing. PG doesn't make them anymore, they were a sort of concept high tech sub in Oct 1999. Retail price is around $900 I believe.

I think I am go with the Kicker Solo-baric L715's. The Tarantula sould be able to pump those things damn good! Sealed boxs i was looking at 4.0 f3 for each one. I figured the middle should be best, not too much and not too little. I cant wait...its almost time to get this DONE!

Well those Adire subs are 8 ohm and are home speakers. But thats probly why you couldn't find them. Now Zane, have you heard these in a car/truck?? Have you used these on an install? or just seen them? They are designed to pump some serious bass thats for sure. Thanx!

man if i was you i would go with the Kove Armageddon Z series subs. kove is really really under rated. they have good sound...with kick ass bass. the Z come with a 2 year warranty. the Z 15 inch D series are 2x4.00 ohms and puts out 1050 watts.

Yes, I have used the Adire Subs Quite a bit. A freind of mine actually metered at a peak 156db from a single Tempest(15") pushed by a Phoenix Gold XS2500 amps in an S-10. He now currently endorses Adire. Go to www.soundillusions.net and look up a person there with the screen name black00. He is the one responsible for this!

Very decent subs, and the cool part is, the president of Adire, Dan Wiggins, is very helpful and willing to discuss car audio with anyone. He frequently visits that forum as well as a few others.

Take it easy,

with those Adire's...would using the passive radiators add some more ummph? I checked out http://www.soundillusions.net pretty kewl site thanx. I will stop in there and ask black00 some questions, I am highly interested in the Adire subs. Any recommends on powered EQ's? Also do you use any specific brand Cap? I Love your website you got anwers for everything and anything! Thanx
