What are some of the better/ best companies that make component speakers?

Do you want a 3-way seperate component set with mid-bass, tweeters, and crossovers, or a full-range single 3-way component speaker? What kind of amp are you going to be powering the comps with?

Stereo Integrity makes a great component set as well as Focal and Diamond and CDT. All great companies to deal with as far as components.

RS-Audio (rs-audio.de) make excellent sounding speakers, best I've ever heard as a matter of fact. They don't have a lot of retailers in the States but you can contact Scott Buwalda over at carsound.com and he can hook you up. You may also consider Dynaudio, DLS, Rainbow, Morel or Scanspeak -- all excellent brands. Alpine F#1 Status scored best in a recent review done on them in car audio and electronics, those will run you about $3,000 though.

I don't hold the opinon of CA&E writers in very high regard especially after the Impreza article in the May issue. Most of the mags pretty well blow now. All glitz and glam and no real systems anymore. Too bad. CSR used to be a great mag.

Yeah, I haven't been horribly impressed with Car Audio and Electronics, it was just the only comprehensive testing of high end components I could think of off the top of my head. I think I'm going to give Car Sound and Performance a try, Richard Clark and David Navone seem to be incredibly smart guys.

Is there a need for the "woofer" to be in a box, b/c i would like to place 2 sets of component speakers in the overhead sound bar in me jeep, and it is just a streched out hollow metal box, and i was going to do, is mount the two woofers, two mid's and the two tweets all in the same bar? Will this work fine you figure?(i kno i coppied this from my other post but i just want more opinions)

They have their moments. They have moments where they are completely out to lunch as well. I see way to much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif when those two names are mentioned. I have heard too much ludicrious information and seen too much bad science come from them to hold them in the high regard that many do. They've been around car audio for a long time but a lot of what they preach is just them continuing many car audio myths that don't stand up to science, "proven" with fallicious "experiments."
