Are you arguing we aid other countries to the tune of millions and/or billions but the US gov can't reroute that $$ to its own communities and citizens?

For the billions the gov spent on rona shots, they could have literally got everyone a gym membership or bought us all equipment like my $35k set up and setup health clinics throughout the states, gave multi years supply of nicotine patches, weight loss clinics, parenting classes, etc...

The gov has gotten into a habit of paying off, buying out and bailing out everyone except its constituents. An associate of mine was on the Mex/Guate border when we provided funding/aid for part of the guate/mex border wall yet liberals cry at securing out own border.

Is anyone helping out Flint or Palestine, OH? Not yet. Its been years for Flint, Biden hasn't visited the OH disaster or any of the oddities that have occurred over the last few months.

When my tax dollars are focused on US citizens first then I'll be more open to spending billions overseas, until that time I think its bullshit that the the focus on other countries while child homelessness is at an all time high but lets make sure that we bail out ukraine and ignore the epidemic of child hunger, human trafficking, record high drug over doses. Prioritizing another countries makes so much sense as they'll come running to your aid when you don't have electricity during power outages, or they'll fix your water supply when your well is poisoned.

At work, we literally had vehicles sitting in the parking lot that were broke down but we get this awesome email from the top dog saying how many vehicles they bought and sent to another country, in spite of that country already averaging $500 million in aid every year.

I feel bad for what the Ukrainian people are suffering thru, however, TBH we're funneling them money and supplies for geo-political reasons, not "to save the children." I do think our involvement in the Ukraine is the right thing even if it isn't altruistic.

And while we're being honest, the Fed, the White House (Obama, Biden & Trump), Michigan State gov't, Congress, etc have all thrown money at this issue. While Flint isn't in my neck of the woods, so I don't follow it closely, it appears the main issue from the beginning to the end is poor political leadership in Flint.

Canada's GDP is ~1/11th that of the US, so to be fair Canada should kick in ~$2.5 billion to match the US (on per GDP basis). Additionally, I don't see why being a Canadian exempts anybody from critiquing the US or commenting on our politics. I don't know if you spend much time out of the US, but the entire Western world knows US politics; probably better than many Americans.

I think the problem is many in the US view Putin as a "kindred spirit" or even an ally (Putin did help Trump get elected).

In my experience Americans are largely ignorant of global politics compared to the rest of the world. If one looks at the map and what used to be the USSR/Eastern Bloc and then looks up per capita GDP of former Eastern Bloc nations that are now part of the EU, you'll notice those Eastern bloc nations had a literal explosion of income and wealth due to free markets, liberal democratic ideals/gov'ts, etc. Ukraine saw this and that's the road they wanted travel down. The Russian plutocracy didn't want a big capitalist neighbor moving in next door, especially one with many cultural and blood ties to Mother Russia, so Putin attacked. IMHO, this is where we (the West, led by the US) has to make a stand. Ukraine has every right to embrace the Western model. Furthermore, a promise was made long ago when the Ukraine agreed to give up its nukes (bad move in retrospect), that the US and Russia would safe guard the Ukraine. Russia has clearly violated that oath. If we don't live up to that promise the message to the world is you better arm yourselves with nukes.

Putin literally has control of several regions and IF russia wanted to they'd use nukes or similar means to crush Ukraine. He essentially has the oil plants and the nuclear plants.

I've done some world travels and I don't find the knowledge of global politics any more or less knowledgeable in one country or the next regardless of where I've been. W/ the introduction of social media/forums/etc.. its media parrot speak or the rest of us conspiracy theorist.

For example, Chinese nationals knew gov state media and millennials in Budapest and Brazil knew what they were fed on social media.

Remember, Covid was from an open food market, not a US funded Chinese research laboratory according to CNN in 2020.
The media, the CDC and NIH is on top of it
