Yep. I realize the current tax structure really does keep middle class down.

We paid a ridiculous amount in taxes last year. We contemplated donating but we could have dumped half the wife's paycheck into donations to make a dent and it would have equaled what we paid out. 😤

The standard deduction amount for 2022 is $12,950 and I made way over that but so many people have their hands in my pockets. Federal, KY - State, County and City and then Ohio because I work in Ohio. Not to mention I was working 3 jobs in 2022. I think I will just stick to one job this year as I am not as bored.

Deductions did nothing for us and we had nothing to really apply. We ran the numbers about 3 or 4 different ways and it was just ridiculous in the end. My pay raise combined with the wife doing extra work in the summer royally screwed us.

Its a frustration for sure. Had a buddy who needed to buy 2 brand new 1 ton diesels for his business and give away 2 older ones just to keep from getting raked over the coals.
Neighbor had to do something similar.
It's crazy. Thankfully there's some small buffers for the small business owner but it's nuts.
