very long story and lond qustion i hope i can get somw help

heres the deal:

i bought a pioneer head unit{3300} from circuitcity as a ''open box buy''

i put it in and 1 day i was driving and i hit a pot hole and all of a sudden i here a pop noise and smell something burning well it smelled like a positive hit a neg,it came from my door the pos wire cam lose and hit the neg, well then every since then my radio wont play it gets power and everything but no words come out speakers

it is not the speacks because i just bought a pioneer 6300 and they work fine,BUT HERES THE STRANGE PART>>> it happened to me again!!! with the new 6300 but what i did was un hooked all speakers and re-hooked them up to the head unit it worked fine like nothing happened, thats what i get for working with wire as little as they are,well i need some help i wana sell my 3300 head unit i was wondering what can i do to make it work again? mind u the same thing happend with my radio i got now and its fine now, i checked all my fuses so its not that what can it be????

Check the wires for frays.. I think that may be why the decks keep quitting on you..then check all the connections both speaker type and power/ground wires.

Check you HUs ground wire, it might be lose.
