Type R coils burning!

x-over i have no x-over adj! Alls i have on my amp is a feq which is at 38hz and my gain is set to 42-43V!!

disregard that X over bit. sounds like u got your gain dialed in. but u need to trun up the freq just a hair. u want the freq to be around 70-80 ish. anythink above 80 can be considerd Mid bass. any thing below is sub bas. having your sub set at 38, your realy limitin all of the sub bass frequancys. just trun the freq up a tocuh more and i think youll have it all dialed in! also when spker man was talkin about 45 hz i think he ment to use a 45Hz test tone. not set the freq to 45 Hz.

70-80 is too high, the R in that box wont like the power that high.

55-60 is a much better option.

well, he still hasn't stated whether it is a lowpass or highpass xover, so just telling him to set it at 80 isn't exactly correct. however, seeing as he hasn't made mention of 2 "freq adjusters", i would assume it's the lowpass.

i weill set my freq to 55-60 but then it makes my ac voltage jump to like 60V even with the gain almost all the way down i have everyting turned on as in bass boost master not slave 2 other bass and sound performers on the amp! So why is it so high when i turn it up so little?

because it's the function is to attentuate at the frequency selected(laymans terms). your setting your gain, but using the crossover to reduce output at the test frequency.

listen, try this..

turn the freq all the way up, and the gain all the way down. set your HU volume 3/4 up.

play your testtone, ie; 45hz. turn your gain up until the amp starts to clip(you will notice the change in tone and the cone movement will slow up visiably). now back off a hair.

set your crossover to about 60~70hz. should be good to go.

*now, if your using the HU to run the front /rear speakers - if the deck max's out the interior speakers at lets say, 1/2 volume.... set the gain from here instead of 3/4. that way when the front stage is maxed, so is the sub amp. if the bass is overbearing on some materieal, i use the HU sub control to attentuate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I just got my new headunit so i will do the 3/4 thing thats what i usually listen to i dont get it has been doing awsome not clipping at all for a while evan with amp swaps then it starts to smell and the amp kept going into prot!
