type r 10 recommendations

Hi,

Any recommendations on a ported box for this sub (dual 2ohm voice coil model)? Alpine says 1.1ft^3 net tuned to about 35.5hz. WinISD shows a ~3db peak ~38hz with this box.

Does that sound about right or does anybody have experience with this sub in a better box?

Well for starters what is the goal you wanna achieve with the sub?

I enjoyed running my Type R 12" in a 2.5cft box tuned to 32hertz if anything you could ask a box designer/builder like Mobile Enclosures to draw you up a cut sheet that would work to your needs.

1.1 cubes sounds smallish if you ask me,but that's why I asked what the OP wanted out of his sub.

Good question on goals. I listen to most all types of music so there isnt any one type I am going after. I like to get a good punchy feeling from rock music but I also want it to sound good if I put on something more bass heavy. I have plenty of room (it is going in a very large storage area of a boat) so making the box fit is not a concern goal wise.

I have played around with WinISD and tried different sizes and tunings. If I go a little larger on the volume (1.5) and tune it a little lower (32) the peak goes down to the 33 hz range. Im just not sure how to interpret how that will affect the overall sound.

OK, I have been playing with WinISD and it seems like a good box will be 1.5ft^3 tuned to 35hz. Does that seem about right?
