Tuning a portec box to a certain hz?

Well I am pretty new to box building, but am wondering how you tune a ported box to a certain hz? I was wondering if anyone has a link to a site that covers this info?

Search around. Plenty of info. Its determined by the characteristics of the port........IE: port lenght, diameter(if aeros), width, area, etc......

Well, Just found out that winISD calculates it, sweet. if I went with a rectangular port vs a round would there be any difference in sound or spl?

There might be less port noise if you went with aero ports(circular), but if properly designed/made, a slot port should have no port noise

Thanks, but im designing one on Sketchup right now. I am building a center console but am unsure wether it will be for a carputer or a subwoofer.. still deciding. The volume came out just right for a jl 10w7 and thats mighty tempting lol.
