a friend of mine has a 1980 silverado reg. cab sport bed. is there any way for him to istall an aftermarket HU without having to cut or modify the dash. if so, what kind of subs can be put behind the seat without losing any leg room.

Your friend can go either 10s or 12's for the subwoofers. AS far as the headunit goes they do make the dash kits to fit the headunits. So that shouldnt be a problem. IF you want something thats going to fit ocrrectly go either for a truck box usually most audio stores sell them or even think of customer. You would be surprised what they can do.
